Tribal Forum Submits Rights Charter to Bengal BJP Chief
Kolkata, July 09: The West Bengal Adivasi Uni-ty Manch submitted a memorandum demanding constitutional rights and welfare measures for trib-al communities to state BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya on Tuesday. Assuring the delegation, Bhattacharya promised that tribals in West Ben-gal would receive the same rights and benefits being extended to them across the country. “There will be no discrimination. Whatever is being done for Adivasis in the rest of India will be implement-ed here as well,” he said.
The submission took place during a programme organ-ised by the Adivasi Unity Manch at Mahajati Sadan in Kolkata. The event be-gan with traditional lamp lighting by Bhattacharya. Prominent attendees in-cluded North Kolkata
BJP president Tamogh-na Ghosh, Adivasi Unity Manch president Ruben Rava, general secretary Tarak Bag, Samir Hansda, Limba Lepcha, Tanshi Dar-je Sherpa and office bear-ers from 35 different tribal communities.
